NEW PRODUCT FROM DUNSTAN
25 Sep 2013

An exciting new addition to the Dunstan Range!!!

Dunstan is delighted to launch its latest product to NZ horse owners :

“Dunstan Betabeet Flakes”

non- molassed, rapid-soaking, beet pulp flakes.

Horse owners all around the country know what a fantastic feed source beet pulp is for their horses.  This natural superfibre is unique to other traditional fibre sources due to its higher calorie level.  However, beet pulp still provides the same great benefits of fibre for maintaining a horse’s digestive health.

The higher calorie level of beet pulp means it is suitable for improving body condition or as an alternative energy source for working horses.  As a fibre source it is non-heating and can therefore be an ideal feed option to be included into the ration of grain-sensitive horses.

When horses have restricted access to pasture beet pulp provides an alternative fibre source to ensure their minimum daily requirement for fibre is met.  Ensuring a horse’s fibre requirements are satisfied is vital for their digestive health and assisting to reduce the risk of colic and gastric ulcers.

Dunstan Betabeet Flakes embodies all the great benefits of feeding a non-molassed beet to horses with the added convenience of being ready in 10mins or quicker!

Dunstan Betabeet will soak in 10mins in cold water, or if you have access to hot water, this time can be reduced ensuring great convenience and ease of use.

If you would like a sample of Dunstan Betabeet Flakes please email dunstan@dunstan.co.nz or call 0800 438 678

CURRENT LISTING OF PEOPLE LOOKING FOR POSITIONS IN THE INDUSTRY - also go to "For Trainers" section to see more.

Anna Mackenzie - location Manawatu:

Currently in my second year studying a Bachelor of Veterinary Science at Massey

University. Looking to specialise in equine and large animal practice in the next few

years. Looking for a job over the summer or for part of the summer between mid

November and mid February, to gain experience in the breeding or racing sector of

the horse industry.

DUAN WHITE -  currently located in NZ - in his own words:

Throughout my life I’ve been an active sportsperson and have regarded sport as a priority when was situated in New Zealand and as such, have only secured part time roles since leaving school until I secured my dream job at Mick Price Racing and gave up my sporting dream. In this role at Micks I had the biggest moment of my life strapping Let Go Lenni behind All Too Hard and Pierro in the 2012 Caulfield Gunieas. I was already hooked on racing before that day but it really re-enforced the fact that racing is my biggest passion. I returned home for family reasons and they’re sorted now and would really love to get back into the racing industry. I’m 26 years old, 6 ft. tall, 95kg and am physically fit and can achieve any task put in front of me. I am a hardworking individual who is good with their time management and can competently complete a job unsupervised.

OTAKI TRACK CLEARED FOR RACING
27 Aug 2013

The Otaki track has been cleared for racing to resume there next Thursday, 5 September, following supervised trials being conducted on the course proper this morning.

A total of 12 Otaki horses trialed in three heats, with senior riders Hayden Tinsley, Jonathon Riddell, Daryl Bradley and Rosie Myers confirming that next week’s scheduled Otaki-Maori meeting should now proceed with the track having recovered from the drainage work around the bottom bend.  RIU Stipendiary Steward Neil Goodwin, together with NZTR Venue Inspector Garry Foskett,  RACE Inc Tracks Manger Chris Allen and Otaki-Maori Racing Club officials were also in attendance and inspected the track, with the riders,  following the three heats. Garry Foskett reported that the track had recovered well from the work that had been undertaken in May and said there was a good sole of grass. He commented  that according to the riders the Otaki track while heavy today, was very consistent and there were no issues with the presentation of the track where the work had been carried out.

The Otaki Maori Racing Club with funding support from NZTR and the Racing Minister’s Safety Fund undertook $80,000 of new drainage work in May around the bottom bend at the Otaki racecourse to address ongoing issues with water ponding on the track surface in this area each winter. The work included the installation of 60 new lateral drains, a main collector drain inside the running rail and a 225mm pipe outlet drain across the track. The drainage work was completed on time and budget in May, however it was agreed to reschedule the Levin July Ryder Stakes meeting to Awapuni and the Otaki-Maori Saturday feature meeting to Trentham to allow sufficient time for the track to recover and the new grass to become established.

Otaki Maori Racing Club Meeting at Trentham on Saturday 17 August 2013 abandoned due to earthquakes

As a result of several earthquakes this afternoon in Wellington, the Otaki Maori Racing Club Meeting at Trentham tomorrow - Saturday 17 August 2013 - has been abandoned.

While there is no noticeable damage to the grandstands, an engineer is required to assess the buildings before a meeting can take place.

All New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing operations, including the National Racing Bureau, will be operating normally, remotely from the Petone offices.

The TAB/NZTR Office building will be assessed and we will endeavour to keep everyone updated with information as it becomes available. The office is expected to be closed until at least 12 noon on Saturday, 17 August 2013.

Additional programming opportunities will be advised by the National Racing Bureau for the Woodville-Pahiatua Racing  Club meeting on Thursday, 22 August and the Egmont Racing Club meeting on Thursday, 29 August to accommodate some of the races lost at Trentham. These changes will be confirmed by the National Racing Bureau in consultation with the Central Regional Programming Committee and the Clubs and advised tomorrow morning.

As a result of the closure please take note of the following:

The free 0508 Racing number will be monitored. Please call the National Racing Bureau support mobile on 0276219860 for any urgent enquiries during the day.
